PATIENT & FAMILY SERVICES

Hope. Help. Healing.™

The Michael Hoefflin Foundation seeks to bring comfort and hope to families of children diagnosed with cancer in the Santa Clarita and surrounding valleys. We are here to help. Our programs have provided services to over 800 local families including:

  • Grocery assistance
  • Gasoline assistance
  • Information and referrals
  • Family entertainment activities
  • Quarterly support group meetings
  • Counseling and tutoring
  • Financial assistance
  • Educational resources

Financial Assistance
The Foundation provides financial support to families of children diagnosed with cancer. We give grocery and gasoline assistance along with hospital parking passes to our families.

Family Events
The Foundation organizes fun family activities and experiences throughout the year. Some of our past events have included bowling parties, visits to family fun centers, professional sports games, and other entertainment events.

The Foundation pivoted with the Covid-19 pandemic and offered drive-thru experiences including our Holiday Basket Drive-Thru in 2020, our Spring Games & Pizza Party Event in April 2021, and our Mother’s Day Event in May 2021.

Emotional Support
The Foundation hosts quarterly support group meetings for Foundation Families where parents discuss childhood cancer-related issues. Occasionally guest speakers are invited to speak about specific related topics. A licensed child and family therapist facilitates separate group meetings for patients and siblings concurrently with the parent sessions.

Kare Kits
The Outreach Program works with area hospitals by providing Kare Kits to newly diagnosed patients and their families. MHF Kare Kits are special backpacks put together by Foundation Volunteers and include practical supplies needed for a hospital stay: a special blanket for the patient, toiletries, a flashlight, and a notebook of resources for the parents.

Hospitals working with the Foundation include:
Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Kaiser Sunset, City of Hope, UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital, and LA County/USC.

Service Area
The Foundation currently serves the following areas (in California): Santa Clarita Valley, San Fernando Valley, Simi Valley, Antelope Valley, and portions of the Conejo Valley
